Taking time off to go on a trip could be a great way to destress and unwind. And if your chosen destination is a place on your bucket list, this new experience will certainly be worth the wait. From living through new experiences to appreciating unfamiliar sights, every minute can be an adventure.

However, not everyone's down for excitement and adventure. After all, there’s only so much energy one can have, especially if you’re already so worn out from your day-to-day life as it is. But if you’re looking for a place with an excellent blend between adventure and relaxation, going to Whitsunday Islands can be a great choice.

Whitsunday Islands, or simply Whitsundays for short, are a cluster of islands located in the Coral Sea, right by the Queensland coast. With 74 islands in total, you can only imagine how much adventure is waiting for you. And here are some of them:

1.  Sail Across The Reef

Going on yacht charters on the Whitsundays is one of the musts for any first-timer traveling here. With all those islands strewn about, there’s no shortage of great bodies of water surrounding them. Perhaps what makes them an ideal scene to sail through is how calm the waters can be. Therefore, couples and groups of friends can enjoy a peaceful cruise without getting rocked by strong waves.

Because this is a highlight of Whitsundays, tourism has an expansive range of vessels for you to choose from. So, if you’re interested to try something more thrilling than a cruise, adventure sailing might be right up your alley. But if you want to maximize your cruising experience, there are luxury yachts available that have excellent service and delectable food.

2.  Set Up Camp

For travellers who want to get out of hotel service and spend a night under the stars, pitching a tent on an island at Whitsundays can be the best way to go. There are multiple campsites available that are scattered across different points of islands. You can choose somewhere close to the beach if you want to take a dip at night or stay surrounded by trees and nature.

You won't have to worry about traveling as there are services that can organize transportation for you through boat transfer. Some may even offer camping kits for hire for those who go camping spontaneously.

3.  Soar Above The Islands

To experience wonder and thrill like no other, you can find both of those and more once you’re high up in the sky. Although it can be amazing to see everything Whitsundays have to offer up close, it’s still miles away from having a bird’s eye view of everything. After all, there’s something different about seeing things from a different perspective, whether you’re out skydiving or in a plane.

But considering Whitsundays are a cluster of islands, you’re probably thinking how boring it must be to stay up there. One can only see so much blue from the ocean before they get sick of it. However, that’s not all Whitsundays has in store for you.

Found in one of Whitsundays’ bigger islands, Whitehaven Beach is renowned for how stunning it is. From its pure white silica sand to the shifting fusion of blues and greens formed by the sand and the water, there's no doubt how picturesque the entire image would be above.

4.  Discover New Culture

Considering how rich human history is, there's no surprise you can find an ancient group of people from Nara Inlet on Hook Island called the Ngaro, a seafaring tribe from long ago.

They have inhabited the Whitsundays down to the coastal areas stretching to Proserpine, and they are known because of their expertise in creating winta, or the three-piece canoes they crafted from ironbark. But besides tools crafted for seafaring, the Ngaro people are also proficient with the arts seen in their numerous cave artworks. Taking the time to learn about them can put things into perspective, and allow you to appreciate current society even more.

5. Get Up Close With Nature

Travelling is one way to unwind and change pace, even for a little while. After all, staring at screens and staying indoors for so long could affect your mental state, one way or another. Spending time away from technology might be the answer you’re looking for. And lucky for you, nature is everywhere in Whitsundays. From the natural scenery to marine life, every inch of Whitsunday Islands is a treasure trove of Mother Earth's many wonders.

Takeaway

So, one way to keep yourself from falling off the grid is by taking some time to yourself. Taking a trip overseas could be helpful if you want something different to spice up your life. And one place that can be on your bucket list is the Whitsunday Islands.
