Join Kat & Caron your AW Hosts on your Friday adventure in your own backyard, Ipswich, which is known traditionally as Tulmur in the Yagara language. This wonderful conservation estate at Spring Mountain has so much to offer with amazing views, lush bushland and interesting history.
As we wander through this area of stunning diversity, the track climbs to the highest point in the park, Gun Point Lookout. In 1942 a number of gun emplacements were built in the area and used by American troops for training purposes. Up here you can take in views of Brisbane city in the distance and out to the mountains of the main range.
We also have incredible views looking down towards White Rock, a very sacred place to the local indigenous community and our next point of call. We refrain from climbing this rock oot of respect for the traditional owners, however, we circumnavigate White Rock, passing under the cliffs and caves that hold many dreamtime stories.
Our route back to the carpark will be dependant on the group’s ability, as we have the choice to walk the cliff top edges (Grade 5) or head down to the main track (Grade 3).
Once back at the picnic area, we will serve fresh coffee, tea and the AW Pantry will be open with something for everyone to enjoy.
