Join Kat and our birthday girl, Caron 🎂 , on this pretty walk, initially, along the Trachyte Circuit. This track owes its name to a type of volcanic rock which forms many of the Glass House Mountains peaks. The Glass House Mountains are a sacred place for the local indigenous community with many dreamtime stories about the rocks formations and how the mountains formed.
The circuit leads through open woodland and heathland and links Mount Tibrogargan and Mount Tibberoowuccum. Scribbly gums, Bloodwoods, Casuarinas and Blackbutt trees offer shade for us and are home and a food source for many birds, including the yellow-tailed black cockatoo.
A slight detour along this track will take us to the Jack Ferris Lookout to soak up the diverse views of the surrounding peaks - it is a highlight and a perfect place to stop and reflect.
We continue on, selecting the trail that takes us around the base of Tibrogargan, offering up breath-taking views of this giant and the daunting track that leads to the summit.
After the walk, join us for a piece of Birthday cake and a cuppa - watch out for cheeky kookaburras keen to join in the celebrations!
Please note: A moderate level of of fitness is required to enjoy this walk
