Are you looking for a different hike that has plenty of challenges and new sights to see ... ON A FRIDAY?
This little known and underrated hike through Boya Quarry and Greenmount National Park is sure to get your blood pumping! Don't let the secluded nature of this trail fool you, this walk packs a punch! The terrain is mostly ascending and descending with rocky ground underfoot.
Heading out from John Herington Memorial Picnic Area on Coulston Road, we start our walk with a stroll through Boya Quarry where we will stop to marvel at the sheer cliffs where granite was once extracted to build the groynes at Fremantle Harbour. If we're lucky we may see some abseilers and rock climbers dangling way above us.
From here we start our steep climb up, down, and up again to Greenmount Hill lookout. The trail here passes alongside Greenmount Goat Farm, a mountain biking park. Once at the top, we will stop to enjoy our morning tea while admiring the views over the Swan Coastal Plain.
Heading back down the towards the base of Greenmount Hill we traverse the edge of the National Park, navigating a maze of single tracks that were once mountain biking trails before the area became National Park. Though challenging, this walk is extremely rewarding with plenty to see and admire.
**For those who have undertaken the Lesmurdie Falls walk with us, this is of similar difficulty rating.
