Walking in the Flinders Ranges is one of the truly unique travelling experiences this country has to offer. Walks take in the many renowned landmarks including Wilpena Pound, the Heysen Trail, Mount Remarkable National Park and Alligator Gorge.
This 7-day fully accommodated trip includes all transport and delicious meals. It sees you staying in some excellent locations with all of the amenities on hand after a day’s trekking. If you’ve longed to get to the Flinders Ranges but wanted to do so in comfort, then this is the trip for you.
Located just over 350kms north of Adelaide, the Flinders Ranges includes several well-known national parks and walking trails. Both the Heysen Trail and Mawson Trail span several hundred kilometres and provide a multitude of sights and attractions for walkers.
You’ll see plenty of native flora and fauna in their natural habitats, from Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies in Brachina Gorge to the Sturt’s Desert Pea (the floral emblem of South Australia) growing freely throughout the bushland.
7.30am departure from the Adelaide Parklands Terminal (the terminal for the Ghan and Overlander train journeys).

Overnight accommodation at Rawnsley Park (two bedroom cabins). The property is situated just outside of Wilpena Pound and is the perfect base for exploring the area. Each cabin has its own ensuite.
Early morning Morolana Scenic Drive – enjoy the sights of majestic River Red Gums.
Walk the Heysen Trial through Blacks Gap and into Wilpena Pound
Enjoy lunch at Blacks Gap with captivation views
Walk to the floor of the Wilpena Pound and stop off at Hills Homestead to gain a better understanding of how challenging life was for the 19th century pioneering farmers.
Two-course dinner and overnight at Rawnsley Park Station
Walk 12kms to the top of Tanderra Saddle and you will be rewarded with fabulous views
Continue to Wilpena Pound
Dinner at the Woolshed Restaurant, Rawnsley Park (own expense).
Overnight accommodation at Rawnsley Park Station
Depart Rawnsley Park for the Brachina Gorge.
15 km walk to the Aroona Valley – see ruins of an historic homestead, walk to an ancient gorge and out on to a ridgeline that offers extensive views over the central Flinders Ranges.
Two-course dinner and overnight at Rawnsley Park
Start the day with a walk to the beautiful Blinman Pools
Short drive through Parachilna Gorge, past the trailhead of the Heysen Trail and onto the Prairie Hotel.
Option to spend some time in the outback town of Blinman.

Walk to Dutchmans Stern which winds through a beautiful forest and ends at an excellent lookout with views all the way over the Spencer Gulf.
Afternoon tea stop in Quorn
Added option of a self-guided walk around the Mount Remarkable National Park

Overnight accommodation at the Fullers View
Walk to Alligator Gorge. The walk has some of the most visually stunning scenery you’ll come across in the Flinders Ranges.
