This weekender is all about having fun, gaining confidence in a supportive environment, learning knew skills, exploring the Bibb 'bush camp' experience and testing out hiking while carrying your own gear!
We have chosen a moderate 22km walk on the Bibbulmun Track (with a few hills thrown in to keep things interesting), to be completed over 2 days, with plenty of time to explore and enjoy the surrounds. Our Guide will meet you at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre where you can park your vehicles for the weekend as we've arranged transport to take the group to the Northern Terminus in Kalamunda, where you'll start your walk finishing back at The Perth Hills Discovery Centre.
From the Northern Terminus, we'll tackle the 12km to Hewitt's Hut Campsite, where we'll be staying overnight (in Shelter or BYO tent). The following morning we continue along the Bibb Track for another 10k, reaching our final destination for the weekend, the Perth Hills Discovery Centre.
This is a great introduction to hiking on the Bibbulmun Track, while carrying all your own gear and sleeping in the shelters (or your own tent). It's an opportunity to have a go at this style of hiking on the Bibbulmun Track under the guidance of an experienced bush walking guide and in the company of like-minded women. It's also a great opportunity to get familiar with your gear, (or hire gear) have time to make adjustments as necessary en-route and learn what you do and do not really need to pack, before tackling a more challenging section or a multi day on the track.
You are required to have your own transport to Perth Hills Discovery Centre where you'll leave your car overnight (If you wish to Carpool, let us know and we’ll do our best to match you up with others who may be coming from your area & would like this option).
Your expert guide on this overnight walking break, will answer any questions you have about getting out on the Track and walking any section of the Bibbulmun, as well as providing information on how to effectively pack & carry a full backpack, tips on gear, feet, hiking poles, boots, trail food and more at a pre-walk briefing to be held approximately 2 - 4 weeks prior to the walk.
You can hire gear from the The Bibbulmun Track Foundation, if you don't have your own, or if you don't know anyone you can borrow from. We will provide you with a gear list (food, clothing, gear etc) to help you plan/prepare.
