PLEASE NOTE: This walk is more challenging than usual and is NOT suitable for beginners. There are some steep inclines and a good level of fitness is required
Join the girls hiking this 12km return trail that encompasses sections of the Brownhill Creek Recreation Park, Waite Conservation Reserve and Yurrebilla Trail.
The trail passes through farmland, forests and an important remnant of the original Grey Box Grassy Woodland found in the area, and features magnificent views over the Adelaide Plains to the sea, local bird life and possibly a koala or two to be seen. Over 200 species of native plants have been recorded in Waite Conservation Reserve and surrounding areas, and despite a history of extensive grazing, the flora still includes 22 native orchid species, mostly from the more intact areas such as we will be visiting.
The walk starts with a few steep hills to get your heart rate up followed by some open farmland overlooking stunning valleys as we enter the Waite Conservation reserve and meander back towards our start, past Carrick Hill where weather permitting we will stop for a lunch break and admire the gardens.
