Take a satisfying and at times, challenging hike with a welcoming & supportive group of women, led by our wonderful Adventurous Women host and walk leader. Explore the historic areas surrounding Mason Mill, Victoria Dam and Bickley Reservoir. See remnants of the first Tramway ever built in W.A. and hear some of the stories about times gone by.
Bring your own packed lunch and enjoy it in good company, then take part in a surprise art/craft class in a lovely spot with picturesque views to help get the creative thoughts flowing. Learn some new craft skills and then complete our loop walk back to the trailhead.
We'll start our journey with a 7.3km hike to Victoria Reservoir, meeting at the carpark. This hike is a comfortable grade 3, offering both challenge and beauty. Your guide will share insights into the history and heritage of this scenic trail. At the halfway point, we'll take a break in a shaded area for lunch. This is where a talented local artist, will join us. Our guest will introduce us to her work and lead a craft session. Everything you will need for the workshop is provided and all you need to bring is a great attitude and your creativity.
Meeting Place: Head to Masonmill Road, Carmel (30km / 40 mins) east of Perth. Take the only side road off Masonmill Road that is signposted as "Korung" and also has a "Victoria Dam" sign pointing up the road. At the locked white gate you'll see the car parking area. The walk will commence from here and the group will walk half the Victoria Reservoir Loop, then divert off on the Bickley Reservoir Loop, coming back onto the Mason and Bird Heritage Trail to complete the hike.
