Spend the day with Kat and Caron walking deep into the mysterious rainforest along mountain trails to the summit of Mt Hobwee.

Mt Hobwee (1,164m) is a lesser-known peak in the Lamington National Park. It is home to a prehistoric Antarctic Beech Forest with clusters of beech orange - a brightly coloured fungus that is only found on Antarctic Beech trees in Australia and South America.

The plaintiff cries of the Cat Bird will greet us as we begin today's adventure. Shrouded in a swirling mist, we walk past tangled moss-covered vines slowly strangling their host tree while the vibrant colours of poisonous berries, ferns, fungi, green lichen and stream lilies beckon you. A photographer's paradise.

We will stop along the trail for a break at Darrayabroo lookout. Here we can drink in the views of the McPherson Ranges towards Bithongabel. Then onto the summit. There are limited views from the summit, the trees are tall and lush with ferns - a perfect place to reflect and forest bathe.

As we descend, we will detour out to Dalcelo lookout where we can see as far as Mt Warning if the weather permits. The vistas along the way are ever changing, stop and enjoy them.

Bring suitable food for a full day out on an adventure, remember whatever we take in, we bring out. As with all mountains, they create their own weather, so a light rain jacket or poncho is advised also.

This is a big day. It is a Grade 4 trail which means the track is rough and long and could be a little overgrown. We may have some fallen trees and slippery rocks to navigate, however we will be with you all the way to guide and assist if the need arises. A moderate fitness level is required to enjoy the hike and hiking boots are strongly recommended.
