This great walk starts at the Green Mountains day-use area and follows the Border Track for 600m before branching into the West Canungra Creek circuit trail. It is a moderately challenging route which we will undertake in a clockwise direction.
The circuit includes several of the Green Mountain walking tracks: Border Track, Yerralahla Track & Box Forest Circuit.
We descend down into the valley through Gondwana Rainforest to Yerralahla (Blue Pool), passing lush rainforest and red cedars - we are small in this landscape of giants. At the pools we can search for the eels that inhabit this pool and are notorious for nibbling peoples toes if they get into the water. The Lamington Bright Blue Spiny Crayfish are often spotted along this track, so keep your eyes open.
From here we follow the creek for most of its length, passing Elabana Falls, Darraboola Creek, Yerralahla Falls. There are several creek crossings which we will navigate with care, taking our time to ensure everyone's safety. Some rock hopping and climbing over fallen trees make up the adventurous parts of the day out - this may challenge you physically, however the rewards make the journey worth the effort.
As with any mountain adventure it is advisable to have a rain jacket or poncho, the weather takes on its own personality and can change without notice. Due to the terrain, your hosts will not be carrying tea & coffee, however will have a treat from the AW Pantry to enjoy along the way.
Please note: There are some creek crossings involved ðŸ‘
