If you like waterfalls especially walking behind waterfalls then let Caron and Kat take you on a magical adventure. In amongst a beautiful rainforest, Springbrook National Park’s longest hike, the Warrie Circuit, is for you. The forest is part of the stunning Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage zone in South East Queensland.
The track gets is named from the local Aboriginal language Warrie meaning 'rushing water'! We will cross creeks and gullies winding our way down to a very sacred place, the ‘Meeting of the Waters’! It is here that all watercourses draining into the canyon merge to continue their journey further down hill. We will take a moment here and stop to rest, think and explore. It is also an ideal place for a snack (not provided) before we commence our journey back up to the top.
The forest is beautiful. From the smallest, most delicate lichens to swamp gums so enormous you struggle to see the top of them. Look out for pademelons, giant land mullet skinks and pythons and hear the cracking chirp of eastern whips birds fill the early morning air.
Once we are back at Tallanbana Picnic Area we will serve hot coffee and tea with a lovely homemade treat or two from the AW Pantry (provided), it is probably ideal to bring some lunch along to enjoy here too.
This is a moderate day. It is a Grade 4 trail which means the track is rough and long and could be a little overgrown. We may have some fallen trees and slippery rocks to navigate, however we will be with you all the way to guide and assist if the need arises. A moderate fitness level is ideal for you to enjoy the hike and hiking boots are strongly recommended. Now and again there will be a bit of mud to test your boots in, all part of the adventure when mixing rainforest and waterfalls.
Suggestion: Stop at Apple Tree Park for toilet stop on way (map: https://goo.gl/maps/7EM7tV6bvjwwiDim8). The Circuit is another 5-10 min drive from there. There are toilet facilities at the picnic area, however tend to be very busy on the weekends. On the way out we highly recommend you stopping in at the nearby "Best of All Lookout†for an amazing view.
