Lovers of nature, orchids, wildflowers, wildlife & landscapes, you'll love the combo of the heart pumping Sixty Foot Falls Trail and the gentle Blue Wren Ramble Trail, located within Ellis Brook. Starting our hike at the Honeyeater Hollow Carpark, following the Blue Wren Ramble Trail, we traverse Ellis brook several times, exploring dense thickets of Wandoo Woodland along the banks of the brook.
This trail is a popular one for birdwatchers/twitchers, as there is a good mix of Wandoo Woodland, which is a prime nesting and feeding area for birds in the area. Keep an eye out for echidnas as well, these little guys have been seen in the area at different times!
After warming up our legs on the gentle ramble, it's time to tackle the Sixty Foot Falls Trail! This walk climbs to the top of the spectacular Sixty Foot Falls, affording magnificent views of the City and the Valley along the way, before descending past the old Barrington Quarry where old workings provide a window into the geology of the area. Plenty of rewards to have during this walk, including stunning landscapes, views, wildflowers, and orchids ... it's a great time of year to be walking this trail!
When we finish the Sixty Foot Falls Track, we retrace our steps along the Blue Wren Ramble Trail to the Honeyeater Hollow Picnic Area & Carpark.
