Join us on this great moderate 9 Km return walk, featuring fantastic views to Mt Mitchell and Mt Cordeaux from the lookout as well as abundant bird life and a number of different vegetation types including Godwana rainforest.
We will start from the Pioneer Graves picnic area, heading up the trail through the changing country and on to the historic road to the incredible Governors Chair lookout.
Some of the way can be a little challenging including a couple of small steep sections of scrambling but there are plenty of rocks and trees to assist you.
After we finish at the lookout we will head back downhill through country filled with the sound of bell birds and whip birds to Moss's Well (a slight deviation but well worth it ) before continuing back to our starting point to enjoy lunch in the picnic area.
After lunch we may stop in at the Aratula pub for a "shandy" to wet our whistle before heading home.
Please Note:
A section of the road is really only suitable for 4WD. If you wish to carpool, we will be leaving from Aratula on the Cunningham Highway (opposite the bakery) at 7:00am.
There are non-flushing bush toilets only at the trailhead.
