Get back to nature with a walk through World Heritage Rainforest to the Summit for a Cuppa.
Starting at the West Gap Picnic area we will walk through some of the World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforest before we make the heart pumping climb up
the West Peak of Mt Mitchell, hiking through woods, rainforest and alpine heath to the summit.
This hike features some challenging sections up hill and close to sheer cliff faces but the views from the top are worth every bit. You’ll feel on top of the world at the
natural lookout, with views of the Fassifern and Millar Vale Creek valleys, and mounts Maroon, Lindesay, Barney and Ballow.
We will stop at the top for a cuppa and a homemade treat as we search the sky for raptors patrolling the peaks. The ‘top guns’ of feathered hunters, peregrine falcons
can reach speeds of up to 180km/hr in near-vertical hunting dives.
