Lake Samsonvale is a very picturesque place to visit in the Moreton Bay suburb of Petrie. Often referred to as the North Pine Dam, Caron and Kat have chosen this stunning location as the Friday walk beside the lake.
This easy and relatively flat walk weaves along the water’s edge allowing you to enjoy the wonders of nature. There are uninterrupted views across the lake to the dam wall, the inspiring vista of the D’Aguilar mountain range and beyond. The trail is well maintained with a mixture of sealed and gravel surfaces, so leave the hiking boots at home today and wear a sturdy walking shoe or trainer.
The abundant waterbirds make this a photographers paradise, with black swans and pelicans often in situ on the water with their smooth and graceful approach to life. This is also a well known Koala habitat, so with some eagle eyes we may even be blessed with a sighting or two. Other activities at the lake include; canoeing, rowing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. There are no designated swimming areas, however we can paddle our feet if the weather is perfect.
Lake Samsonvale is a picnic hotspot, the placement of the amenities leaves you feeling relaxed and never crowded. With that we will be wrapping up our morning by the lake with a cuppa and something from the AW pantry. Bring your lunch along to stay a while in this beautiful location before head home to start the weekend.
