Join Caron and Kat, our local AW hosts, on the Somerset Trail in D'Aguilar National Park, Mount Mee. Considered by many to be one of the best bushwalks near Brisbane City it is a relatively easy and beautiful 13km circuit through a mixture of open country and pine forest, as well as pockets of rainforest and scribbly-gum.
Around the halfway point, there are a series of lookouts. They offer up vistas over Somerset Dam to the north and Lake Wivenhoe to the south, with a backdrop of the far mountain ranges as far as the eye can see.
This area was heavily logged in the past (hence the saw mill at The Gantry) however now protected, it has regrown into a beautiful diverse bushland. It is here at The Gantry that we will enjoy a fresh cuppa and something from the AW Pantry.
Please note: The day use area at The Gantry has toilets, picnic and BBQ facilities as well as a number of large resident goannas!
