Join us on a Scenic Rim Farm Gate Discovery and immerse yourself in this countryside for the day. We will be tasting some of the freshest local produce possible, getting behind the scenes to meet the passionate farmers and providores, and hear insights into the history of the region and it’s townships.
During our tour we will visit Australia’s largest camel dairy and wild camel training facility, Summer Land Camels which s home to approximately 700 camels, where we will get up-close and personal with the friendly locals (there’s often baby camels there too) before sampling a selection of their multi-award winning camel milk products, and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee on the veranda of the historic homestead.
Next stop we visit a vegetable farm where you will meet the farmer and have the opportunity to pick vegetables straight from the field! There is nothing like the taste of carrots or corn or green beans picked and eaten immediately! Pick some extras to take home with you and your friends and family will be amazed at what a difference it is to eat super fresh vegetables.
Then it’s time to sample some local ham, small goods and meats at The Butcher Co in the quaint township of Kalbar. There is a lot of discussion these days about "food miles" and these guys are doing an amazing job sourcing all their animals within 10km of their shop!
After the chance to purchase some of their beautiful products we walk a short way down the street to Lovett’s of Kalbar where you can find a range of bakery and café items that will have your mouth watering. Sample some of their favourite sweet treats and grab a few extras for the road.
From Kalbar we will enjoy a short scenic drive to Moogerah Dam where we will enjoy a gorgeous luncheon of local products overlooking the dam and wash it down with a glass of local wine or beer (non-alcoholic options also available).
As we continue our journey we pay a visit to the Scenic Rim Brewery where you can purchase some craft ales and browse the selection of local sauces, jams and other condiments before a short drive to Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard.
At Bunjeren the vineyard's owner will keep you entertained and informed while we taste their grape juice, verjuice, wine and ports.
With a belly full of Scenic Rim delights and plenty of special memories, it's time to head back to Brisbane via the delightful township of Boonah.
