Which ten lucky Adventurous Woman® are ready to experience real adventure with a journey along a section of Australia’s longest recreational rail trail.
Caron & Kat are taking you on an adventure to the railway line of yesteryear. We will explore historical sites like the Toogoolawah & Esk Railway Stations.
Our 19km Walk will take us from the township of Toogoolawah down along the BVRT to Esk. As we begin our journey we cross over the Toogoolawah Pedestrian Bridge, also known as the Bubble Bridge. See if you can spot the significant tree. This QLD Blue Gum is about 350 to 400 years old and was struck by lightning in 2017.
We then venture further along the trail, all with a backdrop of expansive Australian countryside. The trail extends through farmland including lucerne, other pasture and small crops that are important to the local economy. We may even share the trail with a few of the local cows.
Another highlight along the way, we will cross over the recently restored Coal Creek Bridge, one of five bridges we will pass today. There are a few shady spots where horse riders bring their animals in for a drink from the troughs. While we cannot enjoy the water, we can take time in the shade to enjoy a cuppa and something homemade from the AW pantry.
The trail is a mixture of gravel and dirt and is mostly flat, with a couple of small gullies when going around the old rail bridges.
Please Note: A medium to high level of fitness is required for those who want to take this on. There are no water stops, toilet facilities or shops along the trail, so it is important that you are carrying at least 2-3 litres of water, snacks and lunch.
