Join us on a 15km moderate hike around the Canning River Regional Park - Dyarlgaard. The walk features a mix of shared paths, boardwalk and some well maintained dirt trails and passes through a wide range of environments including urban, saltwater estuaries and marshes, freshwater river environs and some forest and woodlands, all of which support a wide variety of birds and wildlife and only earns it's grade 3 rating due to the distance covered.
On this loop walk we will be taking a roughly figure 8 path throughout the park. After leaving our meeting point at Kent St Weir, we will cross the river and head to the Australian Sikh Heritage Trail - Adenia Park, passing through the area of Mason's sawmill and Woodloes Homestead built in the 1870's by Frank Bird, stop and enjoy some morning tea and then onto the Castledare Miniature Railway (which hopefully will be running), before finishing off where we began.
We'll enjoy a picnic lunch together (byo) on the grassed area somewhere close enough to the Canning River Cafe so you can grab a cuppa if you wish.
Good walk for anybody looking to start taking on longer walks before tackling more uneven ground.
