Just 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, join Leonie our Adventurous Women ® Host exploring the Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail by kayak.
Discover one of Adelaide's "secret spots" amongst sheltered mangrove lined creeks which are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and the Port River Dolphins who are not shy about coming to say hello. Kayaking is the most environmentally sensitive way to explore and interact with the dolphins in the area and also allows you to truly enjoy the beauty of area, bird life and peace and quiet.
The Ship's Graveyard is a unique feature of the area with over 20 "wrecks" to view. Our kayak tour is three hours of fun with a professional, experienced guide who will lead us on an easy paced, unforgettable adventure allowing plenty of time for photos and listening stories of the area by your guide. When the Port River Dolphins come to play it is a memory you will treasure forever!
This tour is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience and includes basic tuition in safe kayaking. We launch from a boat ramp covered in non-slip matting; you will get into the kayak on "dry land" and be slid into the water, with care you will not even get your feet wet!
On our return we will enjoy lunch, treats and a glass of bubbly (or something soft), and some time to chat in the Garden Island reserve.
Please note: There is a COVID-safe plan in place for the kayaking and you will need to maintain a distance of 1 person per 2sqm while enjoying lunch and interacting.
If on the day you are experiencing flu-like symptoms please refrain from attending
We depart and return to Garden Island Boat Ramp and Reserve, Lot 204 Garden Island Road, Gillman where there is ample parking. Please meet Leonie, who will be wearing a bright orange AW cap and ensure you arrive at least 20 minutes early to be paired up, have your life jacket fitted and be ready to go for the start time.
