We're walking The Spit Bridge to Manly coastal track, a beautiful 10 km hiking trail, boasting native bushland, quiet inner harbour beaches, picturesque bays and panoramic ocean views. The walk forms part of the infamous 20km Manly Scenic Walkway that runs from the Spit all the way to Manly North Head.
Our AW Group Leader, will meet everyone north of the Spit Bridge at the official start of the track (she'll be wearing a bright orange Adventurous Women Cap for easy identification). From the car park at the top of Battle Bvd, walk down the hill towards the water to the end of Battle Bvd. From the end of Battle Boulevard, head down the stairs following the sign 'To Manly’. Follow the stairs that run under the north end of the bridge then across the grass clearing to the 'Manly Scenic Walkway' map and info sign on the footpath, in Ellery's Punt Reserve. Kathy will meet you there.
You could alternatively park south of the bridge at Spit Bridge Reserve, although parking can be a bit tricky so you may choose to take the bus to Spit Bridge from the city.
We'll stop along the way for a couple of swims to keep cool and once in Manly, why not grab a bite to eat or a cuppa before catching a bus back to our starting point, so please ensure you bring an Opal Card if you have one.
PARKING:
There is street parking on both sides of the bridge - North side is in Avona Cres. South side is in Parriwi Rd. There is parking in Battle Blvd & in the park – but you have to pay, although most street parking was free if you look for the right spot
