Baxter Falls is located in the northern end of Kondalilla National Park on the Sunshine Coast. It is a small section of the legendary Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk - imagine being surrounded by lush rainforest, a suspension bridge, a waterhole with a stunning waterfall cascading down.
The walk starts fairly flat on a forestry road for the first 1.8km, until we reach the Flaxton Walker’s Bush Camp. Here there is the chance to use the drop toilet before we descend along a winding single trail into the valley below in search of the falls. As the sound of the waterfall increases we arrive at a few stairs that take us deep into the gorge.
At the intersection we have the opportunity to cross the suspension bridge which offer up spectacular views over Baxter Creek. We then head back over the bridge and push on another 100 metres until we reach Baxter Falls.
We will stop here and enjoy morning tea in this stunning location, before we head back the way we came. The return walk feels long, however we will rest often to take photos, enjoy the rainforest and of course get our breath back.
There is never a need to rush, our adventures are about enjoying the experience, immersing yourself in nature and making the most of the time we get to escape everyday life.
