Grab your walking shoes girls and join Leonie on a "mystery" hike in the beautiful Cobbler Creek Recreation Park exploring a number of trails that take you through peaceful River Red Gum lined creeks, woodlands echoing with bird calls, and over ridges with views across the Adelaide plains; all the while learning a little about the interesting history of the area.
The park is located just 19 km from Adelaide CBD and is filled with a large range of flora and fauna including the last remaining mallee box grassy woodland in Adelaide and bird species such as black-shouldered kites, nankeen kestrels, red-rumped parrots, crested pigeons and lorikeets.
This 5km, 4/10 (easy-moderate walk ) will suit those looking to explore a new area in your own backyard as well as anyone with some fitness just getting into (or back into) walking.
Bring along a snack or light lunch to enjoy along the way and perhaps join Leonie for a coffee or more and a chat back in the village of Golden Grove after the walk.
Start/End: Golden Grove Caltex Woolworths - plenty of parking in the nearby shopping centre
Distance: 5 km Loop Walk
Style of Walk: Beginners. Mixed environment. Slow paced with regular stops along the way. Picturesque.
