‘Girls just wanna have fun’ sung by Cindy Lauper has absolutely nothing to do with Fremantle, however, that’s exactly what we are going to do today… have FUN!
Hitting the pavement, we’ll explore our great port city with the chance to expand our thinking, challenge our mind and stretch our legs while exploring this historical and cultural city … in a quizzical way.
Fremantle has become a thriving hub. The vibrant city of Freo has so much to offer from hip cafes, brilliant bars, hidden restaurants, historical buildings, culture and street art. With a rich history as a trading place for over 40,000 years and once home to whaling stations and mass immigration, Freo is now a revitalised charming town celebrated for its culture and multicultural heritage.
From the oldest building in Western Australia, the Roundhouse, to the grand old Town Hall, with its 89 foot clock tower, through the eerie Whalers Tunnel to the World Heritage listed Fremantle Prison, we will show you it all.
So, let’s head off for a few hours and explore, in a unique way, what’s in our own backyard in Fremantle, stopping along the way to have lunch on the grass in Esplanade Park, right beside the Carriage Cafe ... so you can byo lunch, or buy from the cafe!
Once finished, you are invited to join your host for a celebratory drink, should you wish, at the Arbor on Parry Street, just down from the Fremantle Prison … where anyone who has misbehaved may be placed in the ‘Naughty Corner’.
