Travel with us for a day of relaxation, good food and even better company as we explore some of the Scenic Rim highlights and see where a lot of our fresh farm supplies come from.
After a brief stop at Kalbar, we will continue on to Mt French National Park where we’ll be having morning tea and enjoying two relaxing lookout walks on the Mee-bor-rum circuit and Logans Lookout. Both are short, easy grade walks and offer an opportunity to stretch your legs and admire incredible views over the Fassifern Valley. If we’re lucky we may even spot an All Pink Slug amongst the rocks and leaf litter. Hiking boots won’t be required this time, just comfortable footwear for the day.
We’ll return to Kalbar for a short wander browsing the shops and antique wares and admiring the beauty and quaintness of the town before we head off down the road to the Farm Box Café for lunch. The café situated within the Scenic Rim Farm Shop serves up local coffee, house made cakes and fresh local food prepared by Kate Raymont, the resident chef and a Scenic Rim Regional Food Ambassador. Kate is known for championing local ingredients with her flavourful wholesome food and provides a wide selection of house made gluten free and gluten friendly options as well as dairy free options. Please see the current food options and drinks menu
After a relaxing lunch browse the fresh local produce, providore supplies, jams, pickles and much more at the café or visit the Elderflower Shop for flowers and giftware, which is just next door. This is a great opportunity to start thinking about your Christmas fare and gifts.
After the tummies and shopping bags are filled we'll continue on to the Kooroomba Winery and Lavender Farm where you will have the option of doing a wine tasting, wander through the lavender rows and visiting the Lavender Farm Shop. The scenery here is absolutely breath taking so remember to bring your camera and remember to leave a little space in your shoppping bags as the Lavender shop stocks a range of lavender products as well as as local honey, lavender based dressings and bushtucker inspired jams & chutney.
After we finish up at Kooroomba we will head back to to our start point at Oxley to wind up our day.
Please note : If you’re wine tasting, you will be required to purchase a tasting package.
