Overview:
Saturday 8th September, 2018
7.30am - Pick up in the Perth CBD and head out north towards Indian Ocean Drive.
10.00am - We stop in at Cervantes and grab a quick cuppa at one of the local cafes, before heading off to Lake Thetis to explore the ancient colonies of stromatolites and do a little wildflower spotting.
11.30 pm - Arriving in Jurien Bay, we’ll find a shady spot to sit and enjoy our picnic lunch. Afterwards we head off to Lesueur National Park, a biodiversity hotspot ranking as one of the most important reserves for flora conservation in WA.
1.00pm - Once at Mt Lesueur National Park, it’s time to stretch our legs! We have a lovely scenic bush walk lined up for you today, where you’ll enjoy fabulous displays of wildflowers, a wide variety of birdlife and stunning vista’s. We envisage our walk will take approximately 3 hours in total, including the summit of Mt Lesueur. This time frame should allow time to stop, enjoy the wildflowers and take photos along the way.
4.00pm - Time to head back to Jurien Bay, check into our chalet accommodation and relax! Sundowner at the main chalet from 5.30pm onwards, following on with a yummy dinner!
Sunday Morning 9th September, 2018
8.00am - Our accommodation is right next to the beach, so if you’re up early and wish to take a stroll, there’s a well formed path along the coast, or flick off your footwear & feel the sand between your toes as you wander along the beach.
10.00am - After breakfast & check out, we head further north for about 20 minutes to the pretty seaside town of Greenhead.
10.30am - Be one of the first!! We’re showcasing a very new coastal walking trail in Greenhead today, it’s called the ‘3 Bays Walkway’. This walk is still relying on future funding to enable the trails to be completed in entirety and takes in stunning views over Anchorage, Dynamite & South Bay’s, while affording amazing displays of flora and fauna.
11.30am - After enjoying this fabulous walk, we take you to visit a little hidden gem - The GreenHead Art & Sculpture Gallery, which is owned by local artist in residence, Deborah Crookes.
12.00noon - Your AW host will then set up a picnic lunch in one of the shelters overlooking Dynamite Bay, while you grab a cuppa or cold drink from across the road at the ‘local’. If the weather permits, you may well take the opportunity to enjoy a dip here. There are cold showers and change rooms available if you choose this option.
Between 1.00 to 1.30 pm - It’s time to leave Green Head and head towards home! We’ll stop en-route and enjoy a break & cuppa on the banks of the lower Moore River, before finishing off our adventure.
