The Tasman Peninsula is an area of dramatic beauty, natural diversity & home to a wide range of land & marine animals . Come join Adventurous Women on a Tassie escape filled with wonderful days exploring the diversity of the Peninsula's natural landscapes ... this is a bucket-lister!!
The coastline, largely covered by national park, is made up of spectacular dolerite cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches and sheltered bays, making it an ideal paddling destination. We'll encounter an abundance of flora and fauna, both on the water and on short but spectacular hikes.
First day of our tour commences in Hobart, where you'll be able to check into our pre-booked accommodation in Sandy Bay from 2pm onwards. There are a few options on how you might choose to spend your day if you arrive early. Given the location of our accommodation, you can take a stroll to the city centre, historic Battery Point or the Waterfront. If you have more time and would like to stretch your legs a little further, check out the Cascades Female Factory Historic Site. Our Adventurous Women Host will meet everyone later in the afternoon to conduct intro's, discuss plans for dinner and provide you with information in regard to the following day.
After breakfast on day 2, we are picked up from our accommodation and are driven 2 hours to where we commence our first paddle, within Lime Bay Coastal Reserve. Afterwards we are transferred to our stunning Lodge accommodation situated within a world heritage listed national park, surrounded by white beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful woodlands. Settle in, kick back and relax on the deck, soaking in the views!
The next couple of days are spent exploring the stunning Tasmanian Peninsula from the box seat .... our kayaks and from vantage points where we take a short walk! Each evening returning to our Lodge accommodation, relaxing while our guides prepare beautiful meals sourced from local produce.
On our return to Hobart, we check back into our accommodation at Sandy Bay, freshen up and join together for our last dinner together. The following morning after breakfast, it's time to check out and say our goodbye's.

However, If you prefer your own room within one of the two bedroom apartments (shared bathroom), we can accommodate on a first come first served basis (additional single supplement payable).
Tasman Peninsula
We stay three nights at Stewarts Bay Lodge in two bedroom deluxe spa chalets. The price of your tour includes a twin share room within one of the two bedroom chalets (we'll allocate room buddies through a 'draw' system). However if you wish to have your own King Room (own bathroom, which includes your own spa with views), then a single supplement is payable. The King Spa Rooms are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Sea Kayaking
Sea kayaking is an activity that any reasonably ft person can participate in and could be compared to brisk walking or cycling. Previous kayaking experience is not necessary for this particular itinerary, but it is important to have a sound level of ftness and, most of all, a sense of adventure. The degree of difficulty of the trip will depend on the weather we encounter. We ask that all participants feel confdent in swimming.
Paddles used are Werner Skagit at 220cm length. All paddles are split for easy adjustment to suit your style.
Other equipment supplied include your pfd (life jacket), one 20 litre dry bag, a set of pogies (paddling mittens), cagoule (an over-the-head style jacket that has seals on the waist, wrist and neck offering protection from wind and rain).
In general, the ftter you are, the more you will enjoy the paddling. It’s a good idea to begin some regular exercise like walking, jogging, cycling or swimming well before the trip. If you have not paddled before, join a couple of 'day' paddling adventures with Adventurous Women, or consider organising some tuition before your trip.
Trip Organisation
The Tasman Peninsula has a broad range of paddling options from tranquil, sheltered bays to towering cliffs exposed to the Southern Ocean. The trip is designed to take advantage of the best paddling opportunity on any given day. As such there is no predetermined itinerary and the exact amount of time paddling or distance covered on any trip or outing will vary. The guides are experts at choosing the best itineraries to suit the group and local weather conditions. Generally, we will plan to paddle between 4-6 hours with breaks over the course of the day, although we may paddle slightly more or less if weather demands. We will typically include some short walks in the trip and may substitute walking for paddling in the case of high winds. It is important to remember that the group will kayak at the pace of the slowest paddlers.
